In late June the smaller residents, 10-40#, come out of their river and deep water canal haunts.  They move to the shallow flats to feed.  It puts them in the perfect position to intercept them with a fly rod.  July and August is the perfect time to chase them.

On a 7-9 weight fly rod these smaller tarpon fight with the same fire as the larger fish.  Most fish are in the air more than in the water.

I run these trips with my skiff.  One or two people maximum.  We generally fish early mornings and short days to beat the heat.
