Entering the winter fishing season
October and early November went just as predicted, completely off the chain. With the exception of two bad weather days after a front, we put tarpon in the air every day we fished.
Fishing out of my little boat that time of year really gives me a chance to get back to my roots. (As well as provide me a little camouflage…lol)
As you can see from the photos, I got in on the action. Actually quite a bit in early November. There were so many undisturbed pristine fish in the dark shallow water I couldn’t resist throwing the fly at a few. Well…more than just a few…
In the coming months I fully expect to start seeing more snook and redfish deep in the backcountry. Right now there are fish still all over. Some are still on the outside, some on the inside and some still in transition between. The colder it gets, the further back you need to go.
Other than a little work on both of my boats, a couple hunting trips, mountain biking and a little (or a lot of) USPSA shooting, I will be out there on the water chasing every snook and redfish I can find.
Wow…I thought we called this the off season…lol
